Richard Dore on Seth Godin’s “endless search of WOW”

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Richard Dore: I have just read Seth Godin’s daily blog on ‘Driveby culture and the endless search for wow’.

Godin describes how the net has created a new marketing culture of chasing clients (new and potential) who simply click and leave – people who are often jaded spectators, that decide in the blink of an eye whether to engage with you or not. And unfortunately it is mostly NOT!

So the question is, do you go for a marketing strategy for momentary attention of the clickers - faster, shallower, with WOW factor?

Or do we ignore the mass marketing approach to people that are just going to click and flick unchanged, and instead strategically market to the minority of people who are connected with you; those who want change, want to engage and want to connect with something bigger, something that you are passionate about?
